Our top priority is sourcing and importing the best green coffee. We understand that quality requires more than just premium beans and robust logistics. That’s why we are committed to supporting and sustaining the humans behind the beans by working with origin partners who pay higher than average wages and who treat workers fairly.
On the ground in Ethiopia, Keffa’s licensed Q-grader Tsega Melesse cups every lot before your purchase and coordinates with our exporters for expedited shipments. Drawing on decades-long relationships, we work closely with our partners in Addis Ababa to make sure each coffee we import is up to our standards. Through these close connections, we can improve processing methods and increase sorting, bringing coffees from Grade 4 to Grade 1 quality. We are deeply invested in and committed to the growth of the specialty coffee community.
Samuel Demisse founded Keffa Coffee in 2006. Samuel was born and raised in Agaro, Ethiopia, and grew up immersed in coffee. His father was a coffee professional and taught Samuel about the industry from a young age.
Samuel has competed in coffee at the National level. He placed 3rd at the 2017 and 2015 United States Cup Tasters Championship and 4th in 2014. He placed 2nd in both the 2013 and 2011 United States Cup Tasters Championships. Samuel is a Licensed Q-Grader and an Assistant Q-Instructor.
