Finca Esperanza Honey Gesha
Finca Esperanza altitude is 1,750-1,800m in Piajo, Quindio. Jairo Ivan Lopez is a civil engineer who decided to change all of castillo varieties at his farms after he tried Gesha from Panama for the first time. Jairo Ivan has been growing coffee for 20 years. For the last two years, he has been focused on the specialty market.
Our partners in Colombia have been working closely with Jairo Ivan Lopez for 2 years, continually improving drying and fermentation times and only picking the ripest cherries. The results have continued to improve year over year. At La Pradera, the cherries are fermented and dried on covered raised beds.
This micro lot is 100% Gesha. This varietal was fist discovered in Absinia, Ethiopia in 1931. Gesha was then planted in Panama for the first time in 1963 and in Colombia in 2005.
