Meet Our Team


Samuel Demisse founded Keffa Coffee in 2006. Samuel was born and raised in Ethiopia. His father was a coffee professional and taught Samuel about the industry at a young age. Samuel has competed in the United States Coffee Cup Tasters Championship. He placed 3rd in 2017 and 2015 and 2nd in 2013 and 2011. Samuel is a Licensed Q-Grader and an Assistant Q-Instructor.


Christina’s great grand father in Germany was actually a roaster in the early to mid 1900’s at Koch & Mann (Koma). In her early adulthood she moved to Savannah, GA and became a cafe manager for about 5 years. After that she moved to Maryland to finish college where she got a position a Keffa Coffee. She now over sees the office/warehouses and is the operations director for the company. Being a product of parents with different nationalities she has come to love traveling and exploring the outdoors in her free time. Cheers!


Andrew started his career in coffee in 1999, since then it’s been a blur of espresso and joy. He’s held many positions in the industry including: cafe and roastery management, educator, sales, and now green coffee trader. Andrew moved to Baltimore by way of Brooklyn, NY with his wife. When not elbow deep in coffee he can be found at home tending to his many plants and woodworking projects or his very talkative cat.


Sarah began working in specialty coffee in 2014 and is a licensed Q-Grader. Shortly after moving to Chicago from the San Francisco Bay Area, she took a job packing coffee for a specialty roaster while she tried to figure out what to do with her recent degree in Sociology. It was there she fell in love with coffee and realized she’d found her career. With years of cupping, QC, sample roasting and green coffee buying experience, she found her way to Baltimore becoming a Trader with Keffa. Sarah enjoys spending her free time exploring new places, discovering new cafes and restaurants, and quiet time at home with her husband and their little dog and cat.


After studing Marketing Management Tsega Melesse joined her father, Mr. Melsesse who was an agent in Addis Abeba for a coffee importing company based in Germany over 25 years.  She acquired lots of great knowledge from her dad and she trained in Germany to get a better insight of the processes involved from the importers side. In 2017 she joined Keffa coffee and is currently working as quality control, sourcing great coffee and following up with the sorting before it shipped out from Ethiopia. She is Certified Q grader and continuing her father’s legacy by working in the coffee industry. Tsega is a very happy wife with a beautiful daughter. 


Born in the heart of Texas, Joshua began his career in coffee by working in coffee shops throughout high school. He moved to Maryland for college where he continued to barista until graduating to roasting. In 2017 Josh joined the Keffa Team as their roaster and unofficial QC. Outside of all things coffee, Josh enjoys reading, running, and exploring his city.


Marissa is a Maryland native and the newest member of the Keffa team. She comes with a background in accounting with over 10 years of experience. She has hopes of becoming a coffee expert like the rest of the team and is thoroughly enjoying learning about the industry. When she’s not crunching numbers, most likely she’s chauffeuring her daughter around or outside with her mastiff puppy Mel.
