The Story

16 Years of Partnership

ARDI™ is Keffa's trademarked natural Ethiopian coffee, created in 2009. For 16 consecutive harvests it has delivered a steady, balanced natural profile—ripe strawberry and blueberry, florals, cocoa sweetness—without the over-fermented notes some naturals show. Independent blind reviews have scored ARDI™ 92+ for over a decade, making it one of the most reliable naturals in the category. The 420 smallholder farmers in the Guji Highland Cooperative work garden plots averaging 1.5 hectares, where coffee grows under indigenous shade trees alongside other crops. The natural processing method follows traditional practices refined over generations: only fully ripe cherries are selected during multiple harvest passes, then sorted through water flotation before being laid on raised African beds. What sets ARDI™ apart is the careful attention during the 15-18 day drying period. Cherries are turned every two hours during peak sun, and covered during the hottest part of the day to prevent over-drying. This meticulous process, maintained for 16 years, creates the consistency that roasters depend on—the same balanced fruit, the same reliable sweetness, harvest after harvest.
